Safari

We have arrived at the gates to the Ngorongoro conservation area.
Looking forward to 3 days of the wild kingdom.
First thing, the drivers ask us to roll up our windows,
look at the next two pictures and you will understand why.

Get a room.......
Serengeti - words can not express the beauty.

Ngorongoro crater - the next day we will be in the crater.

All the amazing animals in the Serengeti - we were lucky
enough to see the 5 great animals and be captivated by
the migration of the wildebeest.

Wow, hippo time. Smelly, not so pretty but fun to watch.
Did you know hippos kill more humans than any other animal?

This baby giraffe was the cutest little guy with his fuzz.

How many lions in this tree?

Wow, can you say lens?

The great migration, unbelievable. We were so lucky to actually be
right in the middle of 100's or 1000 wildebeest migrating.

Mesi people. Our driver explained the white paint, the cruel
traditions of circumcision for both genders , the expectations
of these young children - yes, this continues today.

Young mesi boy herding his cattle, amongst him and his cattle,
lions,  wildebeest, and elephants.

Kill from the night before - circle of life, next to his kill
sleep a lion and across the grass the hyena waits for leftovers.

There was a museum and gift shop we stopped at for our
usual boxed lunch.

Mesi village, they live in the Serengeti but are not
allowed to hunt any of the animals.

A cheeta....a very rare find!

We reach our first amazing resort - Serengeti Serena Lodge.
Greeted with warm towels to wipe the safari dust off our face,
a cold glass of juice and are escorted
to our rooms with armed guards because this resort is not gated.
A positive, no way the kids will sneak out at night! ;-)
Our second resort high in the mountains - Ngorongoro Serena Lodge .
After our amazing meal, we come back to our rooms to find
hot water bottles in our bed warming them up. Ahhhh, so amazing!

I loved our resorts but still have no idea how just down the road or
a couple hour drive, children are starving, their isn't clean water to be
found and yet we with all the tourist are enjoying clean water, are offered
a enormous buffet, warm beds, pools of water to swim in, warm baths to bathe?
How is this fair? Or right?
